FDA Gives Blessing to Bio2 Fusion Implant System

January 12, 2016

Bio2 Technologies has scored a victory at the FDA, with the agency clearing the Woburn, Mass.-based company’s fusion implant system for fracture repairs and osteotomies of the toes, fingers and other small bones.

The implant is made with the Vitrium biomaterial composed of resorbable bioactive glass designed to encourage remodeling of healthy bone.

According to the company, Vitrium provides a good alternative to cadaver bone and other synthetic materials. Bio2 is eyeing a limited product release during the second quarter of the year. — Elizabeth Hollis
