Devicemaker Recalls Pregnancy Test in Australia

January 15, 2016

Murray International Trading is recalling two batches of its One Step HCG Urine Pregnancy Test over reports of false negative results by the users, according to a recall notice from Australia’s Therapeutic Goods Administration.

The batches failed to detect hCG in certain concentrations of human urine, the notice says. “False negative results in the worst case can result in misdiagnosis and significant harm,” it reads.

Customers are advised to quarantine any unused stock of the affected batches and return it to Murray.

The TGA is conducting a further investigation to determine if additional action is necessary. — Michael Cipriano
