Japanese Health Authorities Give Thumbs Up to AtriClip Products

Patients in Japan with left atrial appendage occlusion will have new treatment options, thanks to a decision by that country’s Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare in favor of AtriCure’s AtriClip products.

The approval includes the AtriClip Standard and AtriClip Pro devices, which will be distributed by Century Medical. The exclusive distribution agreement runs through 2019, according to AtriCure.

“We’re pleased to have secured this important approval. We expect that with this leading technology, we will be able to significantly help Japanese patients in the area of LAA occlusion,” said CMI President and CEO Takahiko Motani in a prepared statement. — Elizabeth Hollis
