Fujifilm Announces Launch of SonoSite Edge II Portable Ultrasound System

Fujifilm is launching its new SonoSite Edge II portable ultrasound system, after receiving 510(k) clearance and the CE mark, the company has announced.

The Edge II features DirectClear technology, a novel, patent-pending process that is available on select transducers. The technology elevates transducer performance by increasing penetration and contrast resolution.

"This transducer innovation, combined with a new wide-angle display that offers a 33 percent increase in viewing angles, contributes to an unsurpassed imaging experience for the bedside clinician," Fujifilm says in a statement.

The Edge II is designed to be used in the most rugged environments. With an embedded metal jacket, armored cables protect transducers from common abuse accident scenarios, such as being rolled over, stepped on or twisted, thereby helping maintain image quality over the life of the transducers built on this cable platform, the company adds. — Jonathon Shacat
