FDA Grants Inari Medical IDE Approval to Study the FlowTriever System

Inari Medical has scored IDE approval to launch a clinical trial of its FlowTriever retrieval/aspiration system for the removal of emboli in the treatment of acute pulmonary embolism.

The FlowTriever Pulmonary Embolectomy Clinical Study, or FLARE, will start enrolling patients at up to 20 sites in the U.S., according to the Irvine, Calif-based devicemaker.

The FLARE study is the first trial intended to show that pulmonary embolism can be treated effectively by removing the clot through a percutaneous procedure, according to Bill Hoffman, president and CEO at Inari. — Anisa Jibrell
