Senator Calls for Creation of Generic Priority Review Voucher Program to Increase Competition

A bill calling for a new generic priority review voucher that was introduced by Sen. Susan Collins (R-Maine) would aim to speed patient access and keep drug prices in check by creating more generic competition.

Comparable to the priority review voucher program for rare pediatric diseases, the voucher would be transferable.

Introduced March 1, the “Increasing Competition in Pharmaceuticals Act,” or S. 2615, was co-sponsored by Sen. Claire McCaskill (D-Mo.) and referred to the Senate HELP Committee.
