CardiacAssist Lands FDA Clearance for TandemLung Oxygenator

March 15, 2016

CardiacAssist has reeled in FDA clearance for its TandemLung oxgenator, which works as an artificial lung to infuse oxygen and remove carbon dioxide from the blood.

The device is intended for use in adults for extracorporeal circulation during cardiopulmonary bypass for up to six hours.

The oxygenator features radial flow technology paired with polymethylpentene and is designed to make extracorporeal life support “faster and more accessible,” the company says.

This latest addition expands CardiacAssist’s existing portfolio of percutaneous circulatory devices. — Anisa Jibrell
