FDA Gives Thumbs Up to Inhalation Anthrax Drug

The FDA approved Elusys Therapeutics’ Anthim for treatment of inhalational anthrax in conjunction with antibacterial drugs.

The therapy was developed jointly with HHS’ Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority.

The drug was approved under the FDA’s Animal Rule, which allows for the submission of animal efficacy data when such studies in humans are not ethical or feasible.
