Medtronic Introduces the NURO System for Overactive Bladder

March 31, 2016

Medtronic has launched its NURO System, which is intended to treat an overactive bladder via percutaneous tibial neuromodulation.

The minimally-invasive device reduces urine frequency and urinary episodes.

An “acupuncture-like needle” is inserted in the ankle which is attached to a neurostimulator that sends an electrical pulse to the tibial nerve, the company says.

Therapy lasts up to 12 weeks and common side effects are slight pain or skin inflammation at or in close proximity to where the needle is placed. — Anisa Jibrell
