CDER’s Associate Director for Policy Bows Out

CDER announced last week the retirement of Jane Axelrad, associate director for policy, as of April 29.

With 25 years of experience at the FDA, Axelrad has directed legislative policy, surveillance and enforcement linked to drug compounding oversight.

After the 2012 fungal meningitis outbreak, Axelrad headed negotiations to enact compounding provisions in the 2013 Drug Quality and Security Act and led the FDA’s efforts to adopt the legislation.
