Medtronic Introduces Barrx 360 Express Catheter

Medtronic has launched its Barrx 360 Express radiofrequency ablation balloon catheter — designed to treat Barrett’s esophagus — in the U.S.

The catheter removes diseased tissue and reduces injury to esophageal tissue, and has been proven to minimize risk of Barret’s esophagus with low grade dysplasia by roughly 90 percent, according to the device giant.

The device also will be available in the EU, Australia and New Zealand at some point this year. — Anisa Jibrell
