House Republicans Introduce Obamacare Overhaul, Outline Drug Development Reforms

House Republicans have rolled out a broad proposal to replace the Affordable Care Act that includes several measures to streamline drug development.

The plan — which derives several of its ideas from the House’s 21st Century Cures Act — aims to streamline clinical trials, modernize data collection activities and promote the use of drug development tools like biomarkers and patient-reported outcomes.

It also promotes personalized medicine with a pitch for developing drugs and diagnostics that treat patients based on their genetic makeup.
