Pfizer Pledges to Communicate Risks Linked to Opioids Under Deal With Chicago

Pfizer has pledged to communicate all the risks associated with opioids in future ads under an unusual accord it reached with the city of Chicago.

Under the accord, which was signed June 30 but not announced until last week, Pfizer not to promote off-label use of opioids or distribute deceptive ads that conceal the risk of addiction within the city limits.

The four-year agreement also specifies that Pfizer “fairly and accurately disclose the designs of clinical trials” underpinning opioid approvals and prevents the company from providing free or discounted samples of opioids.
