Comprehensive Addiction and Recovery Act Skates Through House
July 14, 2016
A measure that would incentivize the development of abuse-deterrent opioids moved one step closer to becoming law.
A conference report on the Comprehensive Addiction and Recovery Act (S. 524) passed the U.S. House of Representatives in a near-party line vote last week, 243-177.
The measure represents a compromise between House and Senate visions for combatting the opioid crisis, and stems from a House-Senate conference report issued earlier this week. Along with the provision encouraging abuse-deterrent opioid development, the measure also mandates advisory committee review of investigational opioid drugs.
