Biosimilar Promotion Conference Draws Concern From MHRA

August 4, 2016

A conference for prescribers raised concerns about possible ethical breaches, according to the UK’s Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency.

MHRA said an October 2015 conference put on by Napp Pharmaceutical Group to promote the biosimilar put physicians “in a position where their actions were potentially in breach of medicines advertising legislation,” the agency stated in a report. Napp said it would issue a corrective statement to all attendees.

The conference already had drawn censure from the Association of British Pharmaceutical Industry, which concluded that it breached the group’s code of practice by holding the sessions in Norway for no “clear cogent reason.”
