Teva Endeavors to Launch Generic EpiPen by 2018

Teva intends to meet with the FDA to renew its efforts to launch a generic version of Mylan’s EpiPen by 2018, after many have called into question the price of Mylan’s allergy treatment.

In February, the FDA rejected Teva’s ANDA for an epinephrine auto-injector, citing “major deficiencies” in the application. Teva requested a meeting with the agency after receiving the letter, but the FDA did not respond until recently, when the firestorm erupted over the EpiPen’s price.

Members of the House and Senate have drawn attention to the cost of an EpiPen two-pack, which is $608, up from about $100 in 2008.
