NIOSH Congregates on Closed System Transfer Device for Hazardous Drugs

September 20, 2016

The National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health is holding a public meaning on a testing protocol for universal closed system drug-transfer devices (CSTDs).

CSTDs are used in the making of cancer-fighting drugs and other pharmaceuticals when the process involves hazardous materials that could pose a significant risk to workers if released.

The meeting will focus on the protocol, entitled, “A Performance Test Protocol for Closed System Transfer Devices Used During Pharmacy Compounding and Administration of Hazardous Drugs,” and will give commenters an opportunity for input on the new draft protocol.
