Explosion Risk Prompts Recall of DePuy Surgical Battery Adapters

DePuy Synthes has issued a nationwide recall of its surgical power tool system battery adapters due to risk of explosion.

The FDA has identified this as a Class I recall, the most serious type of recall. Use of these devices may cause serious injuries or death.

The recalled product is the Adaptor and Light adaptor for DePuy’s Small Battery Drive and Small Battery Drive II surgical power tool systems, which are used in drilling or cutting bone in orthopedic surgery. — Tamra Sami
