French Regulators Order Freeze on Carmat

December 1, 2016

France’s National Agency for the Safety of Medicines (ANSM) has ordered Carmat to stop implantation of its artificial heart devices after the death of a 5th patient.

Chief Executive Stephanie Piat has stated that the artificial heart was not linked and that the prior three implantations of the device functioned normally.

The French regulatory body has requested further information from Carmat following the death of the patient. — Cynthia Jessup
