FDA Expands Clearance for Brain Surgery Technology

February 1, 2017

The FDA has granted a new and updated marketing clearance for two patented technologies made by NICO Corporation that are used in brain surgery on its  Myriad automated tissue removal technology and BrainPath access technology.

The new clearance provides Myriad specific disease state approval for primary and secondary brain tumors, vascular abnormalities and malformations, and intraventricular tumors and cysts.

BrainPath is cleared for use in specific disease states such as high grade gliomas and glioblastoma multiforme that has only a 15-month survival rate, secondary metastatic tumors, and vascular abnormalities. — Cynthia Jessup
