President Trump Sued Over ‘One-In, Two-Out’ Executive Order

February 14, 2017

The Trump administration is being sued over the president’s executive order requiring federal agencies to cut two regulations for every one they issue.

The complaint, filed in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia, calls on the court to bar federal agencies and the Office of Management and Budget from complying with the executive order.

The three plaintiffs in the lawsuit — Public Citizen, the Natural Resources Defense Council, and the Communication Workers of America (AFL-CIO) — charge the order violates the Constitution and breaches rulemaking and procedural statutes. The order focuses on offsetting “incremental” costs for regulated industry and disregards the benefits of existing and proposed polices, the suit contends.
