FDA Awards Philips’ ElastQ Imaging Assay Marketing Clearance

Philips has gained FDA marketing clearance for its ElastQ Imaging assay, which expands its EPIQ ultrasound systems.

ElastQ Imaging enables simultaneous imaging of tissue and assessment of liver stiffness, which is used for the diagnosis of various liver conditions.

The assay allows clinicians to diagnose liver conditions and spares patients the pain and expense of a liver biopsy. 

The non-invasive assay uses shear wave elastography to focus sound waves to assess soft tissue stiffness. — Cynthia Jessup
