Alcon Wins FDA Clearance for AcrySof IQ Lens

A division of Novartis, Alcon has received FDA clearance for its AcrySof IQ ReSTOR +2.5 Multifocal Toric intraocular lens with Activefocus optical design for patients undergoing cataract surgery who choose to address their astigmatism and presbyopia at the same time.

The lens is designed to provide clear distance vision and a range of vision for patients who desire less dependence on glasses.

The central portion of the Activefocus toric IOL is dedicated to distance vision.

Alcon plans to commercialize the product in the U.S. beginning in mid-2017. — Cynthia Jessup
