Gottlieb Meets with Senate Health Committee Chairman Ahead of Confirmation Hearings

Scott Gottlieb met with the chair of the Senate committee presiding over his confirmation as the next FDA commissioner, Sen. Lamar Alexander (R-Tenn.).

“I had an excellent meeting with Dr. Gottlieb and believe he’s well-qualified to lead the FDA,” Alexander said after the meeting.

The Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee will hold a confirmation hearing on April 5.

“Dr. Gottlieb has impressive qualifications helping American patients as both a physician and in his previous roles at the FDA,” Alexander said previously, adding he is looking forward to discussing the agency’s plans to implement the 21st Century Cures Act.
