NICO Wins CE Mark for BrainPath Non-Disruptive Cranial Access Technology
April 3, 2017
Indianapolis–based Nico has been awarded a CE mark for BrainPath — a technology that provides non-disruptive access to the brain by using both a parafascicular and trans-sulcal surgical approach.
BrainPath is part of an approach to brain surgery that uses the folds of the brain as a path to the surgical site.
BrainPath displaces brain tissue to create a corridor to the tumor or hemorrhage site, through an opening the size of a dime. It uses a combination of patented technologies to achieve non-disruptive access, automated tissue removal or clot evacuation and intraoperative tumor tissue collection and preservation. — Cynthia Jessup
