BrainCool AB Achieves FDA Clearance for IQool System for Temperature Management

Swedish manufacturer BrainCool AB has received FDA clearance to market its IQool system, with an indication for use of temperature reduction in adult patients when clinically indicated.

The device cools adult patients using non-stick adhesive pads prefilled with BCCOOL (a non-toxic and bacteria-static cooling agent) attached to an automated chiller.

Unlike whole body applications such as cooling blankets, the device can cool or warm patients using focused anatomical zones. — Cynthia Jessup
