Congressional Diabetes Caucus Calls for Meeting With Industry Groups on Insulin Price Hikes

The co-chairs of the Congressional Diabetes Caucus requested meetings with key stakeholders to discuss rising insulin prices.

In letters to the leaders of PhRMA, America’s Health Insurance Plans and the Pharmaceutical Care Management Association, Reps. Tom Reed (R-N.Y.) and Diana DeGette (D-Colo.) noted that average insulin prices tripled between 2002 and 2013, and requested meetings with representatives of the three groups.

DeGette and Reed have been in touch with industry officials but have received conflicting information on the issue, they said, leading them to call for the joint meeting.
