FDA Approves EIT’s 3D-Printed Spinal Support Implants

July 19, 2017

The FDA approved Emerging Implant Technologies’ 3D-printed titanium spinal support implants.

Titanium implants developed by the German company are already approved for more than 15 nations, and the 510(k) clearance will mark its entry into the U.S. market. The devices use selective laser melting technology to achieve 80 percent porosity.

The device will enter the market along with numerous competitors. Virginia-based K2M has already secured the FDA’s clearance for its 3D printed lumbar support cage, as has Stryker’s.
