Drug Compounder Shut Down in Response to FDA Complaint of Potential Contamination

August 8, 2017

A federal judge shut down a Salt Lake City drug compounder Aug. 3 under a consent decree issued in a case brought by the FDA after inspections uncovered numerous regulatory violations.

Under the decree, Isomeric Pharmacy Solutions is prohibited from storing, processing, manufacturing or distributing drugs until it complies with FDA regulations.

The FDA charged that Isomeric manufactured and distributed supposedly sterile drug products, including injectable and ophthalmic drugs, that were adulterated and possibly contaminated with filth because the drugs were made under unsanitary conditions.
