Democrats Want Michigan to Join State Efforts to Control Drug Prices

August 28, 2017

Democrats in the Michigan Legislature outlined their plan for state review of large drug price hikes Aug. 21 hoping to push their state into similar efforts in Ohio and California.

The Michigan legislators will need some help, though, to get the proposal passed, as Republicans hold the majority in both the Michigan House and Senate.

The Ohio price-control proposal is up to the voters: The measure, which seeks to limit the prices paid by the state for drug purchases, will go on the statewide ballot Nov. 7. The Ohio proposal is similar to one rejected by California voters in 2016.
