Competition, Lawsuits Top Life Science Companies’ Concerns

Pharmaceutical companies’ top concerns include competition and lawsuits or patent challenges, according to a new survey from the business consulting firm BDO USA.

In BDO’s analysis of Securities and Exchange Commission filings by the country’s 100 biggest public life science companies, all cited those as potential hazards in their 10-K filings.

Competition and consolidation tied for first place on the list along with intellectual property issues, the ability to commercialize products, and litigation. Federal, state and local regulations, including tax rates and uncertainty, took second place.
