FDA Clears Siemens Healthineers’ Terra 7T MRI Scanner

The FDA has signed off on Siemens Healthineer’s Magnetom Terra magnetic resonance imaging  scanner for diagnostic imaging.

The device produces cross-sectional images of the head and knee. The manufacturers tout the device’s potential to give doctors access to functional and anatomical details they could not access at lower magnet field strengths.

The scanner uses Siemens’ software platform as well as image reconstruction technology, allowing speeds up to 20 times more than previous scanners.
