FDA Approves Myasthenia Gravis Drug
October 27, 2017
The FDA approved Alexion Pharmaceuticals’ myasthenia gravis medication Soliris (eculizumab) for adult patients with generalized myasthenia gravis (gMG) who are anti-acetylcholine receptor antibody-positive.
Myasthenia gravis is a progressive autoimmune neuromuscular disease that most commonly begins for women before the age of 40 and men after the age of 60.
Current therapies are ineffective for 10-15 percent of gMG patients, Alexion said.
