FDA Warns of Undisclosed Drugs in Weight Loss Supplement

The FDA issued a public advisory warning consumers against buying or using the weight loss product Asia Slim Capsules.

The product was found to contain diazepam, bisacodyl and sibutramine, substances associated with serious health problems such as increased blood pressure and heart rate and birth defects in pregnant women. Diazepam is the active ingredient in Valium and has the potential for abuse and dependency.

The agency said the product is part of a “growing trend” of undisclosed ingredients in dietary supplements.
