Delaware Attorney General Sues Purdue, Endo Over Opioid Crisis

January 24, 2018

Delaware became the latest state to take legal action against opioid manufacturers.

In a lawsuit filed Friday, Attorney General Matt Denn accused Purdue Pharma and Endo International, along with several distributors and retailers, of concealing the risks of opioid use in their marketing materials. The complaint alleges distributors including McKesson, Cardinal Health and AmerisourceBergen ignored red flags that opioids were being abused.

Delaware was one of 27 states that saw a significant drug overdose death increase between 2015 and 2016. The state saw a 40 percent increase during that period, according to the CDC.
