FDA Schedules Pediatric Medical Device Development Meeting

The FDA has scheduled a public meeting on pediatric medical device development at the agency’s White Oak Campus in Silver Spring, MD., Aug. 13-14.

Pediatric patients, for medical device purposes, include patients age 21 years or younger at the time of diagnosis or treatment.

Among other topics, the meeting will consider ways to improve research infrastructure and research networks to facilitate clinical studies of pediatric devices and the appropriate use of postmarket registries and data to increase pediatric medical device labeling.

The agency will also seek to identify barriers to pediatric device development and ways to address them.
