Arkansas Files Suit Against Purdue, J&J, Endo for Over-Proliferation of Opioids

Arkansas sued opioid manufacturers Johnson & Johnson, Purdue and Endo for using misleading marketing schemes that contributed to the opioid crisis.

Attorney General Leslie Rutledge alleged the three manufacturers falsely promoted the use of opioids as non-addictive chronic pain treatments, violating the Arkansas Deceptive Trade Practices Act and the Arkansas Medicaid Fraud False Claims Act.

Rutledge said she is seeking restitution for the costs associated with fighting the opioid epidemic and the damage caused by opioid misuse.
