HHS Issues Grants Totaling $485 Million to Fight Opioid Crisis

April 23, 2018

HHS released a second round of Opioid State Targeted Response grants to states, territories and tribes totaling $485 million to fund their efforts to combat the opioid epidemic.

In the first year of the program created by the 21st Century Cures Act grantees used funds allocated for recovery support, medication-assisted treatment, prevention strategies and the use of naloxone for overdose response.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration is expected to issue a further $1 billion in grant funding in September.
