Arkansas Drugmaker Enters Consent Decree Over Adulterated Products

Cantrell Drug Company, an outsourcing facility in Arkansas, was hit with a consent decree for manufacturing and distributing injectable opioids and antibiotics under unsanitary conditions.

The company must cease operations until it complies with FDA regulations, according to the decree in the Eastern District of Arkansas.

FDA Commissioner Scott Gottlieb said the agency is committed to fully implementing the Drug Quality and Security Act for compounded drugs and will “continue to take action against compounders who produce drugs under substandard conditions.”
