ICER Releases Draft Scoping Document for Opioid Use Disorder

May 1, 2018

The Institute for Clinical and Economic Review issued a draft document on a planned review to compare several new medication-assisted treatment (MAT) options for opioid use disorder.

The review is expected to evaluate the value and effectiveness of newer treatments like Probuphine, the long-acting buprenorphine implant, Sublocade, a recently-approved monthly buprenorphine injection and CAM2038, an investigational buprenorphine extended-release injection currently under FDA review.

They will be compared to a tentative list of medications commonly used in MAT, such as methadone, Vivitrol (injectable naltrexone) and Suboxone (buprenorphine/naloxone sublingual film).
