Tennessee Physician Will Pay Nearly $200,000 Over Kickback Scheme

A Murfreesboro, Tennessee physician settled with the U.S. government for her role in a kickback scheme and agreed to pay nearly $200,000.

Dr. Brenna Green was accused of being involved in a kickback scheme that included with Southwest Laboratories, Medscan Laboratory, West Virginia physicians and others. The scheme revolved around sending false claims to Medicare in violation of the Federal False Claims Act, the Anti-Kickback Statute and the Physician Self-Referral law.

Green was alleged to have acquired shares in Southwest for a nominal sum in exchange for a guaranteed “dividend” worth about $5,000 per month, as long as she referred a certain amount of urine drug screens.
