House E&C Committee Advances More Than 30 Opioid Bills

In a marathon markup on Thursday, the House Energy & Commerce Committee advanced more than 30 bills to address the opioid crisis.

The bills ranged from strengthening post approval study requirements for certain controlled substances to a pilot project to increase substance use provider capacity under Medicaid and another to modify payment for certain outpatient surgical services. An amendment to the latter bill to expand substance use treatment and recovery services failed 27-23.

The bills are expected to receive a full House vote in June.
