Ireland’s HIQA Announces Evaluations of Hospital Device Decontamination and Reprocessing

Ireland’s Health Information and Quality Authority announced that it will begin inspecting hospitals to assess how they decontaminate and reprocess their reusable medical devices.

The authority released a guide to the new program on its website that provides information on the authority’s thinking on compliance with standards for decontaminating and reprocessing devices.

The new inspection program will supplement the authority’s existing inspections aimed at prevention and control of healthcare-associated infections.
