DOJ Hits Illegal Opioid Prescribers With Restraining Orders

August 24, 2018

In its latest move to combat opioid abuse, the Justice Department slapped two Ohio doctors with restraining orders after a sting operation found they illegally prescribed opioid painkillers and other drugs.

The temporary restraining orders, granted by the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Ohio, are the first-ever civil injunctions under the Controlled Substances Act against physicians who allegedly prescribed opioids illegally. The orders bar the doctors from writing any prescriptions.

According to the DOJ, the two doctors distributed or prescribed controlled substances such as Oxycodone, Percocet and steroids illegally to undercover agents.
