FDA Warns More Online Networks for Selling Unapproved Opioids

August 29, 2018

The FDA issued warnings to four more online networks for illegally marketing unapproved, misbranded and potentially dangerous opioid medications such as tramadol.

The agency hit nine online operators for the same issues in June and it has issued a total of 13 warning letters to more than 70 websites this summer in efforts to crack down on online illegal opioid distribution.

The networks — CoinRX, MedInc.biz, PharmacyAffiliates.org and PharmaMedics — were given ten days to say how they will correct the violations or face possible legal enforcement action.

“Cutting off this flow of illicit internet traffic in opioids is critical, and we’ll continue to pursue all means of enforcement to hinder online drug dealers and curb this dangerous practice,” said FDA Commissioner Scott Gottlieb.
