Court Blocks Sales of Unapproved Sexual Enhancement Products

August 31, 2018

The U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey issued a permanent injunction barring online distributor Just Enhance from illegally selling sexual enhancement products on more than 100 websites.

Labels on the misbranded products claimed — without FDA approval or studies showing they were safe and effective — that they could treat or prevent erectile dysfunction, impotence and swelling of the prostate gland. In laboratory testing, the FDA discovered some of the products contained sildenafil, the API in Viagra. The ingredient requires a doctor’s prescription and its use can pose serious health risks to patients with medical issues like heart disease and high blood pressure.

The FDA had previously issued warning letters to S Hackett Marketing, doing business as Just Enhance, and R Thomas Marketing. The court injunction applies to those two companies and their principals — Shawn Hackett, president and owner of Just Enhance, and Roger Thomas, president and founder of R Thomas Marketing.
