Vyaire Medical Recalls Suction System Due to Breakage Risk

September 4, 2018

Vyaire Medical recalled its Tri-Flo Subglottic Suction System because of the risk that the catheter’s soft tip may break off and enter the patient's lungs.

The broken tips could cause serious adverse health consequences including choking, wheezing, additional surgery to remove the tip from the patient's lungs, irritation and reddening of the skin of the airways, infections or death.

The company issued a letter to customers on June 20, 2018 asking them to inspect their inventory and remove all affected devices. The recall included 2,150 units nationwide.
