NHS Drafts Code of Conduct for AI, Data-Driven Technologies

September 12, 2018

England’s National Health Service rolled out a code of conduct that encourages companies to adopt a set of principles to protect patient data. The voluntary code is for data-driven technology such as artificial intelligence and other data-driven applications and clinical support tools.

The code spells out what the agency expects from suppliers and manufacturers and it will provide the basis for ongoing discussions on how technology should be used to provide better and sustainable services, NHS said. It will also provide the basis for digital technology suppliers to enter into commercial terms with technology companies and healthcare providers.

The NHS invited feedback from industry on the draft and said it expects to republish the code in December.
