Gottlieb, Woodcock Outline FDA’s Drug Shortage Agenda

FDA Commissioner Scott Gottlieb and CDER Director Janet Woodcock outlined new FDA efforts to address drug shortages in a joint statement ahead of the agency’s Nov. 27 public meeting with the Duke-Margolis Health Policy Center.

The meeting will allow the agency to gather feedback from healthcare professionals, patients, wholesalers and drugmakers.

Gottlieb and Woodcock also noted the interagency Drug Shortages Task Force created in July to work on long-term solutions to prevent shortages. “These efforts, and likely others still to be developed, will complement and strengthen the agency’s own ongoing efforts to establish long-term solutions,” they said.
