L.A. Pharmacy Owner Found Guilty of Medicare Fraud

A federal jury in Los Angeles, California found a Pasadena pharmacy owner guilty of taking part in a Medicare fraud scheme involving more than $1.3 million in fraudulent claims for prescription drugs. 

Tamar Tatarian, owner of Akhtamar Pharmacy, was convicted of submitting fraudulent claims to Medicare Part D plan sponsors for prescription drugs that the pharmacy never ordered from wholesalers and never dispensed to Medicare beneficiaries. 

This case was investigated by the FBI and the HHS Office of the Inspector General.
